Projeto A Nossa Terra
A Nossa Terra is my family's regenerative agroforestry: no digging, no chemicals, the soil better every year. It's frontier farming, the way AI is frontier technology — and the world needs both. The platform behind it is mine: in production since June 2026, with over 150 registered customers and orders every week — two shops, stock, harvest, payments and team in one place. I designed it, built it and keep it running.

The challenge
Google Forms, WhatsApp and weights by hand
- Orders came in through a Google Form, disconnected from everything else.
- Customer updates went out through WhatsApp groups, market by market.
- Vegetables are sold by weight: the final price was only known after weighing, and it was written down by hand.
- MB Way payments arrived with no automatic check — each one was matched by hand.
- One shop for fresh produce at the markets, another for olive oil, books and tools — and nothing off the shelf that handled both the right way.
The approach
A tool shaped around the project
Farming that doesn't follow the manual doesn't fit off-the-shelf software. Instead of forcing the project into a ready-made tool, I built the tool around it. A full-stack platform (Next.js + PostgreSQL), installable on the phone, where orders, stock, harvest, payments, team and customers live in one place. Only what the project needs, exactly the way it needs it.
What I built
Orders, shops, stock and team in one place
Orders by market
Weekly lists per market replaced the Google Form; the real weight sets the final price of each order.
Two shops, two checkouts
Fresh produce for pickup at the market; olive oil, books and tools also by post. Card, MB Way and Multibanco, confirmed automatically.
Stock under control
Low-stock alerts, an email to the customer when a product is back, returns that only restock once checked.
Harvest and loading
What to harvest comes from the orders; the team weighs box by box and the van load is ready.
Team and time clock
Each team member signs in with their own PIN, logs tasks and hours, and only sees what's theirs.
From zero to live — all mine
Next.js + PostgreSQL, server, domain, backups and payments: from code to operation, on a configured and secured VPS. End to end, built and maintained by me.
What I learned
Software a business depends on
Real customers don't wait
Every week there are orders to prepare, weigh and take to the market. Every decision came from a real pain in the operation, not a requirement on paper. That's the difference between software that looks good in a demo and software a business depends on.
There was no shortcut — and that's a good thing
I looked for something off the shelf that would do. It didn't exist. It took months to build, but that's exactly why it does what no generic tool does.
Scope grows with use
It started with the market orders and now runs two shops, stock, harvest, payments and team. The platform grew with the project — something only possible when the software is yours, not rented.
What's next
From family project to product
Next up: opening the platform to other similar projects. What I built for Projeto A Nossa Terra is becoming a product that anyone who farms this way will be able to use.
